Job Summary:
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Facilities Operations HVAC Technician will be part of the facility team supporting the company’s overall research and development and overall facility operations. This position will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the facility building envelope, various infrastructure and laboratory equipment, as well as general building and support equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide the hands-on technical expertise and actions to maintain the facility’s mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems according to scheduled maintenance plans.
Implement immediate troubleshooting methods for persistent and emergent issues, ensuring minimal operational disruption.
Respond to after-hour emergencies for any equipment operation interruptions or alarm notifications for a 24x7 hour operation.
Mechanical Aptitude: Repair and rebuild small building and lab equipment.
Building Automation Controls: Familiarity to operate (system) to make changes for HVAC temperatures and humidity controls, provide mapping of critical systems, and provide reports as requested. Ability to complete simple BAS programming and programming adjustments are a plus.
Lab Infrastructure Oversight: Monitor and maintain exhaust fans, fume hood operations, laboratory vacuum pumps, process water systems, DI/RO water systems, and wastewater neutralization systems.
Direct, manage and support facility projects including equipment installations, plant upgrades, and system integrations by developing project plans, supervising cross-functional teams, and coordinating with engineering, procurement, and external contractors.
Identify efficiency opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives in maintenance processes, equipment reliability, and energy management. Evaluate and recommend new technologies and methodologies that drive operational excellence.
Ensure strict compliance with all applicable company and regulatory safety standards, building codes, environmental regulations and any other company and regulatory EHS requirements at all times.
Work across and collaborate with internal organizations such as EHS, Procurement, Legal, etc.

Required Qualifications:
7-12 years of progressive maintenance experience in an industrial or large commercial environment, with a proven track record in technician roles.
A minimum of High School diploma or GED. Associates Degree preferred.
Expertise in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and control systems; advanced certifications preferred (Master Electrician, Plumbing License, Refrigeration License, etc.).
Demonstrated knowledge of tools, instrumentation, and work practices associated with building operations and maintenance actions.
Ability to read blueprints covering architecture, fire protection, electrical, mechanical, and low voltage.
Solid communication skills (written and verbal) and works well in team settings for project delivery and problem-solving discussions.
Ability to manage time effectively and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Proficiency in basic computer skills within the Microsoft Office Suite of products.
Physical Demands:
Extensive walking inside of buildings and around exterior areas of the sites.
Climb and descend ladders and stairs.
Work in outdoor conditions varying from winter exterior repair to summer work on rooftop HVAC systems.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment including eye and hearing protection
Lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
Work around electrical equipment using proper safety procedures.
